Vera is a multi disciplinary project that recreates a fictional characters material and sensorial world. 31 photographs found in a second hand shop in Brighton inspired the project. The photos captured Vera and her family’s lives. Vera became the muse, each chapter of the project develops the fictional biography of her life.
Narration of Vera’s story is explored through design, art, literature, creativity and memory bringing together artist and designers to collaborate using the photos as their brief.
Kirsty Minns and Érika Muller are the founders of this collaborative project. They met while working for an International furniture company that allowed them to create large scale projects and events. Through this work they discovered their shared interest in out of the ordinary project ideas. Their aim is to create exhibitions that stimulate discussion and debate and create a narrative approach to design.
Addressing a creative process from a new stance allows for diversity. Many people find exhibitions and design projects inaccessible. Using a girl and her fictional story offers reference points for people to relate and involve themselves in the work.
