Mind Wandering Bloom by Caroline Angiulo

There has been a growing interest in mindfulness, which in short focuses on being mindful. In our day-to-day technological lifestyle we are often driven to mindlessness and lose awareness of the present moment, leading to an unhealthy lifestyle. Although Caroline Angiulo project isn’t about mindfulness there are elements that resonates with this. Her project Mind Wandering Bloom, utilises materials as a tool to encourage a state of mind wandering. The aim is to enable us to temporarily disconnect from technology and our everyday lives to provide a moment of light relief, while introducing an element of the extraordinary and fantastical. According to Angiulo’s research mind wandering can promote healthy mental wellbeing and can also help stimulate creativity. Inspired by the likes of Alice in Wonderland and In Search of Lost Time, ‘these wandering materials’ aim to facilitate mental time travel through material design, evoking your imagination and providing a short escape.
